Wishing for wishes.
I have begun a process of wish fulfillment via a technique based on the Kabbala, found in the book, "A Wish Can Change Your Life." It provides a ten week process of meditation, observation, and visualization, to make any wish come true. It is based on the Kabbalistic tree of life. The basic premise of the book is that the ten spheres on the tree of life is the path God used to create the world, and if we too follow the ten spheres we can actualize our wishes and on the way gain spiritual strength. I am going to blog about my ten weeks and hopefully my wish will come true and I will have a great spiritual experience.

Astral Walking.

I have been exploring the concept of astral walking for a little while now. The first really successful attempt I had was during a guided meditation at the Blue Ridge Beltane Festival. We were guided to visit our patron God/Goddess. Since then I have been using the technique we learned that session and it has been working for me very well.
If your interested in the technique post your email and we'll chat :)

Summer.
I love spring and summer. The Earth is full of life. The plants are thriving and green. The skies rumble with flashes of jagged bolts of energy. Energy flows easily and abundantly during this time.
My herb garden is doing very well, considering its lack of space and fertile soil. There was a hard thunderstorm last night, that's why everything is wet and a little beat down.

Fraility.
Last night while driving through Lynchburg, Johnny and I witnessed a horrific motorcycle crash. The victim was being zipped up in the body bag as we drove past. It made me realize how fragile each incarnation we have really is. That person moved on to another place and time, but the memory of who they were this go around will be mourned by many people. That person had no idea that day would be their last. So do we live safe, take risks, or does it really matter?

Time.
I started my new job last month and I have no time to do anything. I come home and cook, and I'm so exhausted I go to bed without accomplishing any of the tasks I have set out for myself. I am trying to figure out ways to get more hours in my day. Not sleeping is out, and getting up earlier is out. Other than trying to get things done in the time before dinner and after work, not to mention on the bus for an hour, I don't see any way.
On a happier note my culinary skills are developing nicely. I enjoy cooking with fresh produce, luckily I moved to the city and have places like Byrd Market to help me out in that area.
Blessed be all.

Gays Can't Give Blood?

Today I went to give blood at the VCU blood drive, only to be turned away because I was gay. Infuriated I wrote this letter to the VA Blood Services:
Hello,
My name is Steven Henry. I have O negative blood type, as you probably know I can give blood to any person who needs it of any type. I am in perfect health, I don't believe in medication other than prescribed, which I have only been issued once in the last 10 years. I have never smoked, I have never drank alcohol or used drugs. Today I stopped at a local blood drive to donate and save lives. I went in and sat down. However, when I was reading the sheet provided I was stunned because I have had sexual contact with a male, my husband. I proceeded to ask the nurse what the reasoning behind this stipulation was. She looked me dead in the face and said gay people have AIDS thats why. I was offended and taken aback. I have only been with one partner and we both have been tested and we both do not have any diseases much less AIDS. So when I got home I began to do research. I will agree with you that the percent of homosexuals that has aids compared to the heterosexual population is larger. However there are many more heterosexuals than homosexuals, it is estimated that 1 in 10 males are homosexual. If you apply that ratio to the AIDS ratio you have a greater percent of heterosexual males having AIDS than homosexuals. Within this heterosexual demographic there are two groups who have more cases of AIDS than others, African-Americans and Hispanics. If you barred these groups from donating blood you would no longer have an organization at all due to protection under the Constitution. I understand that you do not have the power to change this. However I would greatly appreciate it if you would pass this email on to someone who can. I understand you as a person may not agree with my statement, however please understand there are vast numbers of homosexuals who do not have AIDS and have a single partner. All across America homosexuals are gaining more rights, so why not here. I could have saved three lives today, but because of your policy those three people may not receive the blood they need. Thank you for your time. Steven Henry
I urge you, if you feel the same way to send an email to VA Blood Services. They're website is vablood.org.
